Debt Research
Arutha’s debt research focuses on the country’s evolving domestic and external debt dynamics and relations with its creditors. Our team has a special interest in Chinese debt dynamics in Sri Lanka as well as the debt restructuring process following the 2022 default.
Tax Research
Arutha explores Sri Lanka’s tax system in depth, and its many reform attempts that have been met with challenges. We take a political economy approach to on tax reforms researching both state and non-state actors; with a special focus on intra-bureaucratic dynamics.
Economic Civic Education
Spurred on from the rise in misinformation and growing public interest in economic and public policy matters during the 2022 crisis, the civic education initiatives of Arutha including its Default LK platform, are in line with the goal of supporting economic literacy among Sri Lankans.
